Foam-Tite Products: An extruded TPE (more specifically; a thermoplastic vulcanizate or "TPV") foam shape is surrounded by tough but pliable TPV skin and heat fused onto a Polypropylene carrier. The combined composite product can be enhanced with the addition of co-extruded components or extrusion design features to provide an infinite variety of end product shapes, sizes and configurations with as many as six materials, all from a single, efficient, continuous extrusion manufacturing process. Since each component is extruded independently, all components can be color matched to one standard or individual components can be colored as required. |

The Foam: A patented TPV foam process generates a unique, nearly closed-cell, water-blown foam with cell sizes in the .005? to .010? range with densities from .14 g/cm3 to .50 g/cm3. The extruded foam is available in a variety of custom shapes including rounds, squares, hollows, and c-folds. Size availability is from .01 in2 to .44 in2 in cross sectional area. Foam is available in shapes in which the thickness is greater than 20% of its width. |

The Skin: A patented coating process applies TPV skin over at least part of the combined foam/carrier, bonding them together. The skin can be applied in a layer from .005? to .030? thick in configurations as required. Skin materials are available in multiple durometers (hardnesses), and are typically 87 Shore A. Features such as Pro-Slip HDPE stripes, fins, or CladFT non-woven fabric laminate may be applied to provide specialized performance value to the end product. |

The Carrier: A polypropylene extrusion is the platform for mounting the seal to the substrate. Typical mounting methods include barb insertion legs, edge clips, t-slots, darts and two sided tapes. We?ll work to create a mounting method that best suits your application. |

Performance
- Compression force (CLD): Design range of 5lbs to 30lbs per inch @ 50% compression @ 70°F
- Compression set: Our foam will recover to 75% to 95% of its original, uncompressed size depending on part geometry and application parameters.
- Foam can be elongated to as much as 200% of its length.
- Recommended temp range: Remains flexible and has useful range through -40°F to 160°F.
- FR: Not Rated.
- Water Resistance: Foam-Tite?s non-wicking foam provides for minimal water absorption. A water gain of up to 1% is typical.
- Chemical resistance: Unaffected by most cleaning agents, detergents, common household cleaners, and mild acids and alkalis. Our products and are not recommended for use with organic solvents.
- Abrasion resistance: Typically shows minimal wear after 100,000 cycles.
- Tear resistance: Tough skin resists punctures and tears. Custom skin thicknesses are available.
- Aging: Excellent aging characteristics provide for a pliable, functional product for up to 25 years of outdoor exposure.
- UV Color fading: No color fading on most colors after 1,000 hours of UVB exposure.
- UV degradation: No physical degradation after 2,000 hours of UVB exposure.
- AAMA: All seals are tested to AAMA 702 standards and have received category 1 ratings in compression set and shrinkage.
- Recyclability: Thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPV?s) are part of the thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) family and are fully recyclable materials.
- Weldability: Foam-Tite products can be heat fused at temperatures from 350 ? 450 degrees F.
How to order
Volumes: 100K foot minimum annual requirement. Although most Foam-Tite products are designed for specific applications there are already well over 200 standard products that come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors. Our Product Development Team will assist you in optimizing a design to meet your needs.
Product development: Send us your design drawings, applications or discuss your needs with our Engineering team. Confidentiality is our specialty.
Pricing: Most products can be purchased for less than $.25 per foot, but the minimum commitment for custom products is 100,000 feet per year.
